Here are some helpful tips to make the packing and storing of your belongings easier:
DO’S
Focus on the following:

Make a list of all the packing supplies you will need, such as boxes, tape, bubble wrap, marking pens, rope, and pallets.

Stack your things in similar-sized boxes as they will be easier to stack.

Stack heavier items on the bottom, but be sure not to overpack boxes, so they get too heavy and dangerous.

Use pallets or blankets to keep items off the floor of the self-storage unit.

Leave a walkway down the center of your self-storage unit to make accessing all items easier.

Label all boxes on all sides. Again, this will save you time in the long run.

Pack items that you will be frequently accessing towards the front; common sense, we know.

If storing appliances, be sure to clean them out first! Leave the door slightly open on refrigerators and microwaves to prevent mildew in your self-storage unit.

Rub a small amount of oil on metal tools, bikes, etc. This will prevent rust - but be sure to separate these to not get oil on other things! Please note CR Storage Warehouses are very dry, and moisture is not a problem but preparing metal surfaces is still a good idea.

Store mirrors and paintings on their ends; do not lay them flat. Wrap and indicate that they are fragile.

Lay blankets or cloth over and between furniture to prevent scratching.

When wrapping collectibles or anything breakable, tape it after you wrap it. This should avoid mistaking them for excess paper. Use bubble wrap or unprinted paper to wrap breakables. Group similar items together and mark the boxes accordingly.

If possible, store couches on their end. Stack chairs seat to seat. Use the inside of appliances and drawers to store smaller items. When stacking furniture, use paper pads in between the items to avoid scratching.
DON’TS
Avoid the following:

Avoid stacking things directly against the wall to leave room for some airflow in the self-storage unit.

Do not use plastic to cover your belongings. It does not provide good protection.

CR Storage Warehouses suggests you not store any food items. This will prevent any unwanted guests. If you have to store food, then make sure the food is in sealed containers. Our pest control program will ensure minimal pest activity but removing temptation is always a good idea.

Take apart large items, such as bed frames, tables, etc. This will save space and prevent them from breaking. Be sure to keep all the parts together. Keep screws and smaller items handy by taping them to the larger item they belong to.
